The policy of the Creative Minds Montessori School is based on the educational concepts of Dr. Maria Montessori. We strive to serve a broad range of socioeconomic, cultural, racial and ability groups. As often as is possible, the ages and sexes of children are evenly distributed in each classroom.

Students are selected for admission to CMMS on the basis of academic potential, developmental maturity, diversity and gender balance, readiness for the schools program and the appropriateness of the match between the family and the school. We seek families who wish to work in partnership with the faculty and staff of the school on an ongoing basis and who will be committed to supporting the Montessori philosophy at home as well as school. The acceptance of a student is determined solely by the Head of School and staff of CMMS.

All persons are encouraged to apply.

  • We accept students of varying academic ability and diverse learning styles.

  • Primary (3yrs - 6yrs), Lower Elementary (6yrs - 9yrs) and Upper Elementary (9yrs -15yrs)

  • Primary students must be potty trained and independent in the bathroom by their first day of school.

  • Previous Montessori experience is a plus

  • All Montessori transfer students, as part of the interviewing process, are required to spend at least a half-day in our Primary or Elementary school classrooms.

  • Official records from the current and past schools are required prior to acceptance to the program.

  • All children are interviewed by a Montessori teacher before admission to the school.

  • All new parents meet with the Head of School and/or the Director of Admissions.

  • Copies of any educational or psychological testing must be submitted before admission to the school.

  • Education for all children, including those with special needs, will be done within the parameters of the Montessori philosophy and its implementation in the classroom. This implementation implies a multi-sensory approach to education.

  • Specific trial periods and evaluation procedures may be established as needed.

  • Requests for enrollment applications are taken both by telephone and in person.

  • An information packet consisting of our brochure stating the philosophy and objectives of Montessori education, a Fee and Payment schedule, as well as additional information regarding a Montessori education will be mailed or given to interested parents.

  • Observation of a class by prospective parents is required. Observations are scheduled from Monday through Thursday of each week. Every effort is made to schedule them for the first convenient date. Observations are for adults only.

  • After an application is submitted an interview for the child is scheduled.

  • Although the school follows a rolling admissions policy, no new applicants will be considered for admission after Mid-Winter Break of each school year unless they are transfer students from another Montessori school or special circumstances apply.
